RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE NSMJ AUTHOR

Reporting, Data Integrity, and Replication

Authors reporting original research must provide an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data must be represented accurately. The manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to enable other researchers to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review. Authors should be prepared to grant public access to such data (consistent with industry standards, if feasible) and are responsible for retaining the data for a reasonable period following publication.

Originality, Plagiarism, and Prior Publication

Authors must ensure their manuscript is an entirely original work. If the work or words of others are used, they must be appropriately cited or quoted.

Submitting the same research to more than one journal concurrently is unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should generally not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in multiple primary publications.

Authorship and Acknowledgement

Authorship must be limited to those individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All significant contributors must be listed as co-authors. Individuals who participated in certain substantive aspects of the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged in the designated section.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included, that no inappropriate co-authors are listed, and that all co-authors have seen, approved the final version, and agreed to its submission for publication.

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided, including citing publications that were influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Disclosure, Conflicts of Interest, and Errors

If the work involves unusual hazards (related to chemicals, procedures, or equipment), authors must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

All authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflict of interest that could be construed to influence the results or their interpretation. All sources of financial support for the research project must also be clearly disclosed. If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the Editor or Publisher and cooperate fully to either retract the paper or publish an appropriate erratum.
